    Elizabeth J. “Betty” Parkinson, age 82 of Darlington, WI passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born December 22, 1932 in Wiota Township in Lafayette County the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth (McAloon) Blaine. Betty graduated from Darlington High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Parkinson on September 6, 1958 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Betty grew up in the Lafayette County area until her marriage when they moved to Darlington. She babysat for many children over the years in the Darlington area and also worked in the Darlington High School Cafeteria from the mid to late 70’s.
    Betty is survived by her children: Patty (Roger) Tyson of Belmont, Kay (Mitch) Iverson of Platteville, Tom (Vicki Reichling) Parkinson, Terry (Diana) Parkinson, and Tim Parkinson all of Darlington; one brother: Ed (JoAn) Blaine of Darlington; one sister: Mary Ellen (Daryl) Hartwick of Dubuque, Iowa; one sister-in-law: Eleanor Blaine of Shullsburg; ten grandchildren: Jason (Kara) Tyson, Matt (Lacey) Tyson, Kayla Tyson, Alyssa and Alex Iverson, Tyler, Josh, Ben, and Hannah Parkinson, and Jen (Tim) Gross; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert on May 10, 1988; and two brothers: Paul McAloon and John Jo Blaine.
    Betty was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its CCW and a proud member of Bates-O’Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214.She thoroughly enjoyed driving for Commission on Aging. Betty loved her monthly coffee klatch with her girlfriends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and babysitting for her grandchildren. Betty will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
    A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 104 E. Harriet St, Darlington, a branch of Our Lady of Fatima Parish with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating.  A “family remembrance” was shared at 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial was in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation was held Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson-Steil Funeral Home (206 E. Harriet St, Darlington) where a rosary will be prayed at 4:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
