APPLE RIVER, ILL.—Eugene E. “Poppy” Wiest, age 81, of Apple River, Ill., formerly of Cassville, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Scales Mound, Ill., with Fr. David Reese officiating. Graveside services were at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Cemetery in Cassville.
