Jeanette G. Stamm, age 97 of Argyle, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, surrounded by her children. She was born July 30, 1920 in Blanchard Township in Lafayette County, Wisconsin the daughter of Elmer and Geneva (Larson) Johnson. Jeanette graduated from Bainbridge Country School. She lived in Blanchard Township until her marriage. Being the wife of a career military man, Jeanette and her family lived in a number of places before settling in the Argyle area in 1959. She was a housekeeper for a number of households in the Argyle, Madison, and Monroe areas for many years.
Jeanette is survived by her children: Barbara (Jerry) Flannery of Weatherford, Texas, Bennie D. (Alice) Stamm, Jr. of rural Argyle, Grace (Richard) Notter of Monticello, Gary (Cathy) Stamm of rural South Wayne, and Greg (Ruth) Stamm of Argyle; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Doris Hermanson of Blanchardville. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: James, Johnny, and Glen Johnson; and two sisters: Lenore Ballan and Eileen Johnson.
Jeanette was a very active and proud member of Argyle Lutheran Church in Argyle and its WELCA for over 50 years and loved being a member of their quilting group. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, and visiting relatives. Jeanette will always be remembered for her kindness, her personal handwritten notes in the grandchildren’s birthday cards, always taking pictures during family gatherings, and the endless amount of love she shared with them. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Argyle Lutheran Church (100 East Street, Argyle) where Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiated. Burial was in Yellowstone Lutheran Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
