Lenore M. Reichling, age 94 of Darlington, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home in Darlington. She was born Jan. 4, 1923 in Willow Springs Township in Lafayette County, the daughter of Robert and Anna Lenore (Sullivan) Keough. Lenore graduated from Darlington High School in 1940 and later from Bayliss Business School in Dubuque, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Nicholas P. Reichling on June 15, 1954 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Lenore grew up in Willow Springs Township where she lived until her marriage to Nicholas at which time they moved to Darlington Township and began farming on the Reichling Family Farm until 1985 when she moved into the city of Darlington. Lenore also spent time working as a bookkeeper for the Lafayette County Co-Op Creamery for 50 years.
Lenore is survived by her sons: Bob (Jean Olson) Reichling and John (Gail) Reichling both of rural Darlington; seven grandchildren: Valerie Reichling, Stephanie (Koty) Greene, Adam (Anna Doyle-Chandler) Reichling, Tara Reichling, Amy (Shawn) Schulte, Tim (Christina) Reichling, and Nick (Rachel) Reichling; six great-grandchildren: Austin and Carter Schulte, William Reichling, Dominick and Kenna Greene, and Cooper Reichling; and one brother: Bob (Anna Jean) Keough. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nicholas in 1985; one son: Jerry Reichling in 1999; and one great-granddaughter: Bekka Greene in 2011.
Lenore was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, its CCW, and its Catholic Daughters. She was also a proud member of Lamont Homemakers and was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan. Lenore truly enjoyed baking for her family and friends, especially her famous pies. She cherished the time she spent with her family creating memories that will stay with them forever. Lenore will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) where Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiated. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation was held Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Steil-Erickson Funeral Home (206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) where a rosary was prayed at 4:00 p.m. A visitation was also held on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at the church.
