Mary Jean (Kahler) Johnston,  age 86, of Mendota Heights, Minn., passed away from cancer April 18, 2015 surrounded by family.

Mary Jean was born Feb. 16, 1929 in German Valley at the Kahler farm. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and Madison Business College. She worked at the Minnesota State Legislature.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Doug; children Mark, Scott (Laura), and Barbara (Dan) Edwards; grandchildren Peter,  Ben, and Adam Johnston, brother Lyle Kahler and sister Fern (Palmer) McCoy, sister-in-laws Marge Kahler and Sandy Kahler.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by brothers Raymond, Norman, Mahlen; sister, Dorothy Douglas; sister-in-law Helen Kahler, and niece Judith.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
