Phyllis Fern Walker, 75, Sweetwater, Texas, died on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1936 in Boscobel, the daughter of Robert "Lee" and Fern (Wayne) Walker.
She attended Boscobel schools and after graduating from the Boscobel High School, married Donald Achenbach, Boscobel. They later divorced.
She attended teachers' college in Viroqua and transferred to Whitewater, to finish her degree and later graduated with a Masters Degree in Education. She taught second grade in the East Troy School District for 29 years before retiring.
She continued to live in the East Troy area until moving to Sweetwater, Texas last year.
She is survived by two sons, Loren and wife, Donita of Sweetwater, Texas and Douglas and Madonna of Ferryville; grandchildren, Ben Achenbach, Amanda Dickerson, Becky Miller, Shannon Adams, Amber Eick, and Holly and Amber Jelinek; a great-grandson, Devon Achenbach; two brothers, William Walker and Robert (Ann) Walker, both of Kenosha; and a sister, Donna (Jerry) Hill, Boscobel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Walker and Fern Wayne Walker Kincannon and step-parents, Carl and Iola Kincannon.
Her body was cremated and a memorial service was held in Boscobel, on Aug. 23, at the Kendall Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Miller officiated. Interment was in the Boscobel Cemetery.
The Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel assisted the family with the arrangements.
