With a two-day score of 140, Kile Jerrett was crowned the 2017 champion of the Lancaster city men’s golf tournament held on July 8-9 at the Lancaster Municipal Golf Course.

Jerrett, who is this week’s Mast Water Technology Athlete of the Week, finished two strokes ahead of Tim Farrey (142) and four strokes ahead of Darrin Wilken (144). After the first day of competition, Jerrett held the top spot with a two-under-par round of 70 despite taking a double on the par-5 18th hole. On the day, Jerrett picked up three birdies, five pars and one bogey on the front, and followed with three birdies, four pars, one bogey and a double on the back.

In his final round, Jerrett picked up two birdies, four pars, one bogey and a double on the front, to go along with five birdies, three pars and just one bogey on the back. Wilken briefly moved into a first-place tie with Jerrett midway through Sunday’s second round after birdies on holes 4 and 8 and an eagle on 7. But Jerrett came roaring back  with three straight birdies on 12, 13 and 14, while Wilken went par, bogey, par. Jerrett finished his round with pars on 16 and 17 and a birdie on 18 to hold off Farrey for the two-stroke victory.
