LIVINGSTON — Iowa–Grant’s Brock Hinderman continues to impress.
The senior quarterback tallied six total touchdowns, and along with a strong defensive effort from his teammates, led the Panthers to a 42–12 rout of visiting Pecatonica/Argyle Friday night in the Six Rivers Conference opener for both teams.
Hinderman completed 21 of 32 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for a team-high 91 yards and three more TDs on 13 carries.
The defense held the previously undefeated Vikings (2–1, 0–1 SRC) to just 92 yards rushing and 12 points in the blowout victory.
Hinderman (6 tackles, 1 interception), Trapper Hoffman (6 tackles), Colton Williams (5 tackles) and Hayden Aultman (5 tackles) led the Panthers in tackles Friday night.
“We run a very simple, aggressive defense that encourages players to react more than think,” said IG head coach Hayden Link. “That’s the whole secret sauce. Coach Tyler Kennicker has been given the keys and he has ran with it. The players have reacted well to it and we see that every week so far.”
Pec/Argyle got on the board first on a 40-yard pass from Martin Anderson to Luke Leonard midway through the first quarter.
IG answered with a 5-yard TD pass from Hinderman to Hayden Aultman, and a successful conversion pass to Jack Whitaker gave the Panthers an 8–6 lead.
Hinderman threw TD passes of 21 yards to Hinderman and 14 yards to Ty Cutts in the second quarter to make it 20–6.
He then scored on runs of 4 and 10 yards in the third quarter to extend the lead to 34–6, before capping the scoring with a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Iowa–Grant will return to action Friday night with a Six Rivers road game at Division 7 #8-ranked Black Hawk/Warren (2–1, 1–0 SRC).

Randyn Schumacher, Jr., QB, Platteville football
Randyn Schumacher, who was filling in for injured starter senior Brody Digman, played efficiently and got a huge boost from his defensive teammates in the Hillmen’s 14–0 shutout win over the Flying Arrows at the Platteville Activities Complex.
Schumacher was 5 of 10 through the air for 71 yards and a touchdown, and led the Hillmen (2–1, 1–0 SWC) on the ground with 97 yards on 17 carries.
Wyatt Temperly, Jr., QB/S, Belmont football
The Belmont signal caller completed 12 of 15 passes for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns, and rushed for a team-high 46 yards and another score on just four carries in the #3-ranked Braves' 54–14 blowout win of Tri County (0–3) last Friday night. It was his second straight game with five total touchdowns. He also recorded seven tackles on defense.
Isabelle Weigel, Sr., Libero, Shullsburg volleyball
Weigel recorded 30 digs in a 25–10, 25–22, 25–16 Six Rivers West sweep at Belmont last Tuesday, Sept. 1, then tallied 57 digs in five wins to lead the Miners (10–2, 2–1 SRW) to the championship of the Monroe Invitational last Saturday. Weigel also surpassed the 1,000 dig mark for her career. She then added 20 digs in a four-set victory over Benton this past Tuesday night.
