BELMONT — The Belmont football team got the final word in a 65–20 domination over Oakfield last Friday night and junior Wyatt Temperly led the way.
The quarterback completed 14 of 20 pass attempts for 269 yards and four touchdowns, scored on a 30-yard run and led the Braves' defense with nine total tackles and an interception.
Friday night's victory avenged a second-round WIAA playoff loss at Oakfield that ended Belmont's season a year ago.
“It was a great team win overall,” Belmont head coach Brandon Wiese said. “The unselfishness of this team on all sides of the ball, and willingness to make plays is a huge key to our success.”
The #3-ranked Braves were dominant from the first to the final snap, earning all the points they needed in the opening quarter. Oliver Harcus accounted for the first score on a 12-yard rush, followed by the second courtesy of a 64-yard bomb from Temperly to fellow junior Boone Havens.
The Oaks finally had a response partway through the first frame, but a second Temperly to Havens connection from 42 yards out put the advantage at 22–6.

The Braves continued their assault through the second quarter as Temperly threw a 12-yard TD pass to senior Chase Riechers, ran for a 30-yard TD and tossed a 38-yard TD pass to Havens to lift Belmont to a 51–12 lead into the break.

Liam Carey, Jr., QB, Mineral Point football
Carey completed 17 of 28 passes for 137 yards and one TD, rushed for a team-high 68 yards and two scores, and kicked four extra points without a miss — including the game-winner early in the fourth quarter — in last Friday's 28–27 non-conference win at Platteville.
Boone Havens, Jr., WR/DB, Belmont football
Havens hauled in four passes for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 69-yard bomb in the first quarter, of last Friday's 65–20 rout of visiting Oakfield.
Brock Hinderman, Sr., QB/DB, Iowa–Grant football
Hinderman completed 12 of 25 passes for 338 yards and 4 touchdowns, rushed for a team-high 60 yards and another score, and recorded three tackles in last Friday's 33–16 win at Dodgeville.
Mia Huser, Sr., Setter, Platteville volleyball
Huser passed out a team-high 118 assists, and surpassed the 1,000 assist mark for her career, had 12 digs and 3 aces over seven matches to lead the Hillmen to seven straight wins and the team title at last weekend's two-day 14-team UW–Whitewater Warhawk Open.
Brooklyn Ritchie, Sr., MH, Fennimore volleyball
Ritchie posted a team-high 43 kills, 13 blocks and 28 digs to lead the Golden Eagles to a 5–0 day and the championship of the eight-team Belleville Invitational last Saturday. Ritchie also tallied 38 kills and 13 blocks, and had 53 digs over seven matches last Wednesday and Thursday at the two-day JustAGame Sprawl Invitational. Fennimore went 4–3 and finished 10th at the 24-team tournament.
