Platteville sophomore Cade Rohrbach and the Hillmen will officially clinch the Southwest Wisconsin Conference title at Tuesday's SWC Championships at Viroqua Hills.

GAME OF THE WEEK (May 11–May 17)

SWC Boys Golf Championships (at Viroqua Hills Golf Course), Tuesday, May 16, 9 a.m.

Platteville will look to wrap up the Southwest Wisconsin Conference title Tuesday at the House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green. The Hillmen have a commanding lead lead over River Valley (36–28.5) and should have little trouble claiming a repeat conference championship barring a complete catastrophe. Platteville currently has four of the top seven individuals in the conference standings in sophomore Cade Rohrbach, senior Alex Traxler, sophomore Isaiah Altfillisch and junior Zach White.

But the real intrigue to Tuesday’s conference tournament is the battle for this year’s SWC Player of the Year honors. Lancaster senior Zach Hentrich, who has won two of the last four SWC regular season mini meets and finished second in Tuesday’s Platteville tournament, enters the SWC Championships with a one-point lead over River Valley senior Derek Wedige (168.5–167.5). River Valley’s Issac Lange is lurking in third-place with 153 points, but the higher finisher between Hentrich and Wedige will likely be crowned the 2017 SWC Player of the Year.

This week’s other key golf matches

SWAL Championships (at Platteville Golf and Country Club), Tuesday, May 16, 9 a.m.

Pecatonica/Argyle and Mineral Point tied for first-place at Monday’s SWAL mini meet at the Hickory Grove Golf Course. The Vikings (43.5) currently hold a slim lead over the Pointers (41) and Barneveld (40), which will host the final regular season SWAL meet of the season Friday. No matter the outcome all three teams will likely have a shot at the conference title, that will be decided Tuesday at the SWAL championships at The Platteville Golf & Country Club.

Southwest Cup (at Dodge–Point Country Club), Saturday, May 13, 9 a.m.

The best golfers in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference will go head-to-head against the best in the Southwestern Wisconsin Activities League with conference bragging rights on the line in Saturday’s Southwest Cup. The SW Cup is a Ryder Cup team competition between the SWC and SWAL, where the top eight golfers go head-to-head in match-place matches, golfers 9 through 24 in each league pair up for eight doubles matches.
