Home Talent League All-Star Baseball Game
Friday, July 31, 7 p.m. at Warner Park, Madison
Rosters have been announced for this year's Home Talent League All-Star Game, set for 7 p.m. Friday at Warner Park in Madison.
The game will pit stars from the East and Southeast Sections against stars from the North and West Sections.
A handful of area athletes will play for the North/West All-Star team, including Dodgeville's Danny Sullivan (P) and Ian Streeter (C), Wiota's Jeff Solberg (P), Shullsburg/Benton's Trevor Kattre (OF) and Richland Center's Jon Killoy (OF)
General-admission tickets will be sold for $7 each and gates will open at 5:30 p.m. On-field promotions will take place, and concession stands will be open. Advance tickets are available at the Madison Mallards ticket office at Warner Park.

Platteville Swim Team Swimthon
Friday, July 31, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Platteville Family Aquatic Center
This Platteville Swim Team will close out the summer season Friday eventing with the Platteville Swimthon fundraiser from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and pledge sheets are at the pool. Members of the team have secured pledges from friends and family members and will swim as many laps as possible in the two-hour periord to raise money for Family Promise of Grant County and the Platteville Parks Endowment Fund.
Prep football practice begins
Tuesday, Aug. 4
Across Wisconsin, prep football teams will begin preparations for the 2015 high school season with the first day of practice allowed by the WIAA. Teams are allowed to pass out equipment and run test out drills Monday, prior to Tuesday's first official day of practice. Lancaster will begin defense of its Division 5 state title, while Darlington will look to make a return trip to the D6 title game. In Platteville, former defensive coordinator Kyle Craig, takes over for Scott Statz, who has stepped down as head coach, but remained on staff as the offensive coordinator.
Fennimore Run for Fun (4th event)
Thursday, Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the Ashmore farm south of Fennimore
The fourth edition of Fennimore's summer Run for Fun schedule will be held on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Ashmore farm south of Fennimore. There is a 3-mile trail run course for all ages and a 1.5-mile course for children. The event is free to the public. Registration begins at 6:30 with running scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
