Hillsboro's Sebranek shines at Cashton Invite
Junior wins 110 and 300 hurdles

CASHTON — Junior Max Sebranek continued his early season success Saturday with a pair of gold medal performances at the Cashton Invitational.

The hurdling phenom won both the 110-meter high hurdles (15.93) and the 300 hurdles (41.74). He also placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.95).

Teammate and fellow junior Matt Bartels placed second in the 100 (11.73), third in the triple jump (38’5”) and fourth in the 200 (23.67).

The Hillsboro quartet of Noah Mayberry, Nick Skala, Logan Rohn and Alex Shaker won the 4x800 relay in 8:56.32.

Mayberry placed second i the 1,600 (5:04.10), while Rohn finished second in the 3,200 (10:45.80).

The Hillsboro boys scored 94 points and finished third as a team behind Melrose–Mindoro (101.5) and Bangor (100.5).

The Mustangs made it a team sweep as Melrose–Mindoro won the girls’ title with 96 points, just ahead of the host Eagles’ 89. The Hillsboro girls placed sixth with 61 points.

Savannah Noth won the 400 with a time of 1:06.17.

Kelsey Taylor placed second in the 3,200 (13:40.84).

Monday the Tigers participated in the nine-team Boscobel Bulldog Relays.

The Hillsboro boys placed second with 82.5 points, behind only champion Fennimore (103).

The Hillsboro girls finished third with 82.5 points, behind co-champions Fennimore (99) and Boscobel (99).

Hillsboro was scheduled to compete Tuesday at Necedah. The Tigers will return to action next Tuesday at Bangor.
