WONEWOC — A week after suffering a 12–9 loss to Wonewoc–Center, Hillsboro won when it mattered most.

Senior pitcher CJ Hofmeister threw a four-hit shutout as the Tigers blanked the Wolves 3–0 last Thursday in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs.

Hofmeister (4–8) struck out four and allowed just one walk in seven innings of work to collect the complete game victory.

She also scored two of Hillsboro’s runs in the game.

Hofmeister scored on a Kelsey Skala single in the first inning.

She scored again in the third inning on Ali Brey’s RBI triple.

Skala scored in the sixth inning to make it 3–0 on Morgen Rynes' RBI ground out.

Hillsboro improved to 7–10 on the season and advanced to face top-seeded New Lisbon (15–2) this past Tuesday. Results will appear in next week’s Sentry Enterprise.

Last Tuesday, Hillsboro closed out the regular season with a Scenic Bluffs sweep of host Royall.

The Tigers won the opener 12–3, then as the home team took the nightcap 11–1.

Hillsboro finished SBC play with a 6–8 record and tied Bangor for fourth place in the final standings.

New Lisbon repeated as conference champion with a perfect 14–0 record in league games.
