The Hillsboro wrestling team scored 108 points to finish ninth out of 12 teams at its own Hillsboro Tiger Invitational Saturday.

Eleven Tigers participated, and all 11 won at least one match, but none finished better than freshman Jason Griffiths.

The 106-pounder went 2–2 to place third in his eight-man weight class. He is now 12–7 on the season.

Griffiths pinned Montello’s Colter Kearns in the opening round to earn a spot in the four-man championship, then went 1–2 in round robin action against other first round winners to place third.

Dakota Wells (9–12) won his first round match 8–5 over Wautoma/Wild Rose’s Keegan Taivalmaa, but then went 0–3 in round robin action to place fourth at 113 pounds.

Jacob Urban (13–11) also finished fourth at 152 pounds. He lost his opening round match 14–1 to Royall’s Trenton Pasch, but responded with three straight wins before being pinned by Hawk Fredrickson of Kickapoo/La Farge in the third-place match.

Sebastion Miller (12–8) went 4–1 and placed fifth at 170 pounds.

Last Thursday the Tigers fell to 1–3 in Scenic Bluffs duals with a 54–24 loss at New Lisbon.

Hillsboro traveled to Brookwood on Tuesday night and will next host Kickapoo in a non-conference match Friday night.
