The Hillsboro wrestling team opened the 2013–14 season Monday night with a 36–24 non-conference dual meet loss at Kickapoo/La Farge.

Senior Max Sebranek, a returning state qualifier, picked up the Tigers’ (0–1) only victory on the mat with a first-period pin of Morten Reser (1:17) at 182 pounds.

Freshman Mitchell Morris (113), junior Mitch Beckwith (120) and senior Christian Beyer (285) picked up forfeits to account for the Tigers’ other 18 team points.

Hillsboro surrendered a forfeit at 195. There were double forfeits at 106, 126 and 170.

The Predators took control of the match with five straight victories, beginning with Gavin McCauley’s 7–4 decision over senior Logan Rohn at 132.

Jeffery Milz's forfeit victory at 195, and Sawyer Peterson’s first-period pin of Hillsboro sophomore Dylan Thew at 225 sealed Kickapoo/La Farge’s victory.

Coach Snapper Verbsky’s Hillsboro team will return to action Saturday at the Royall Invitational.
