Trojan boys track Ridge & Valley Champs!

THEY DID IT AGAIN last week. The North Crawford boys track team decisively won the Ridge and Valley Conference Championship for the third year in a row easily outdistancing their nearest competitors, Kickapoo-LaFarge and Ithaca.

nc boys trck conf chmps2016 — THEY DID IT AGAIN last week. The North Crawford boys track team decisively won the Ridge and Valley Conference Championship for the third year in a row easily outdistancing their nearest competitors, Kickapoo-LaFarge and Ithaca.

For the third straight year, the North Crawford Boys Track & Field Team brought home gold by winning the conference championship meet on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

The boys won in dominating fashion by scoring 172 points followed by Kickapoo-LaFarge with 112. Next was Ithaca with 111, DeSoto 80, Wauzeka-Steuben 61 and Seneca 17.

Leading the way was sophomore Skyler Olson, setting a new conference record in the 200-meter dash, barely beating the old record held by North Crawford’s Chuck Herbst, with a time of 23.15. The old record was 23.18. He also went on to win the 100-meter dash in a great time of 11.35 and the long jump with a leap of 20’7”. He also was second place in the triple jump with 41’4”. In first for the triple jump was teammate Kenny Spencer with a leap of 41’9” and Brady Allbaugh was fourth with a jump of 38’1”.

Allbaugh also went on to win the Pole Vault with a jump of 10’0” and in dramatic fashion spoiled the win for Desoto’s Lance Buckles by winning the 400-meter dash in a career best time of 53.21. He also went on to lock up third place in the long jump with a career best jump of 18’8.50”. Spencer finished in second place in the long jump with a jump of 20’4” to sweep the event for North Crawford.

Junior Jack Polensky also looked good by winning the 110-meter high hurdles in a great time of 16.56. He then went on to win the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 43.56, while teammate Dallas Hersberger locked in fourth place in a time of 46.00. Polensky also finished in third place in the high jump with a leap of 5’6” and was a member of the second place 4x400-meter relay team along with Spencer, Cameron Steyer and Hershberger in a time of 3:50.96.

Distance runner Jacob Bransky also had a good night by finishing in second place in the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs. His times were: 2:16.25, 4:43.62 and 10:57.96 respectively.

“This was a great team win for the boys,” Coach Allbaugh said after the meet. “All of the hard work that they did finally paid off. Congrats to Skyler for setting a new conference record. We had a lot of athletes that actually came close to setting their own records today. This is a team to remember as one of the greatest in Crawford history and that is saying something.”
