Trojans pound Panthers 15-3

The North Crawford Trojan baseball team continued to play well in the Ridge and Valley Conference as they improved to 6-2 with a convincing win against Kickapoo on Thursday, May 3 in Soldiers Grove.

Kickapoo got things going in the first off of starter Eric Friar, as they strung together three hits and put two runs on the board.  They added their third run in the second to take a 3-0 lead.  Then the Trojans became patient at the plate in their half of the inning, as they scored six runs on two hits and five walks.  Joe Bedessem had a two RBI singles, as did Joe Childs. 

With the score 6-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Trojans put nine runs across as they got seve hits in the inning.  Matt Friar had two hits in the inning driving in three runs. 

Pitcher Hunter Fortney came in and relieved Friar in the third inning to pick up the win.  He struck out three and did not give up a hit or walk a batter.

Leading hitters for the Trojans were Estin Salmon 3 x 4, Joe Bedessem 2 x 3 with 4 RBI’s, Matt Friar 2 x 3 with 3 RBI’s, Joe Childs 2 x 4 and Jerrid McDaniel 2 x 2.
