Lawrence also had a record-setting effort on the way to the award stand in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, turning in a Benton and Tri-Op record time of 46.33 second in her heat race to finish seventh overall. She also placed 31st in the 100-meter high hurdles (16.57).

“It was a great experience for these athletes. To be able to qualify, then compete against some of the Midwest’s best can’t be duplicated anywhere else. It’s much tougher than our state meet as there were no divisions here. Our kids stepped it up and performed extremely well,” said Coach Paul Raley, who noted there were athletes from 13 different states at 89th running of the Kansas Relays.

BSMS is scheduled to compete at the Cuba City Invitational on Thursday, April 28 (4 p.m.), at the Black Hawk Meet in South Wayne on Tuesday, May 3 (4 p.m.), and at the Fennimore Invitational on Monday, May 2, at 3:45 p.m.
