Potosi takes control of Six Rivers West
Four-set victory over Belmont puts Chieftains in the drivers seat

     POTOSI — Potosi landed the first major blow in the battle for this year’s Six Rivers West volleyball title with a 3–1 victory over visiting Belmont Monday night.
     Coach Mallory Mau’s Chieftains improved to 10–5 overall and 5–0 in the conference with a 25–16, 25–27, 25–16, 25–21 victory over the second-place Braves (5–2–1, 3–1 SRW).
     Potosi senior Haley Flesch passed out 27 assists and made 16 digs, while fellow senior middle hitter Liz Reuter added 10 kills for the first-place Chieftains.
     Nearing the halfway point of league play in the seven-team Six Rivers West, Potosi is now 1½ ahead of Belmont and 2 games up on third-place Highland (8–6, 2–1 SRW).
     Junior setter Katelyn Schobert passed out 28 assists and senior outside hitter Jordyn Kamps slammed 16 kills to lead Belmont, which suffered its first conference loss of the season.
     Last Tuesday Jordyn Kamps and Keegan Kamps each floored 17 kills apiece as the Braves defeated Highland 25–20, 22–25, 25–20, 25–23. Keegan Kamps also added 12 digs, three blocks and three aces.
     Potosi battled all the way back after dropping the first two sets to defeat visiting Benton 22–25, 19–25, 25–16, 25–23, 15–5 last Monday.
     Sophomore Maddie Hawes led the Chieftains with 13 kills. Reuter added 10 kills and three blocks and Flesch passed out 31 assists.
     Tuesday Potosi swept Cassville 25–12, 25–9, 25–12. The Comets were no match.
Saturday Potosi went 3–3 and tied for third at the seven-team Lancaster Invitational.
