Kathryn Karsten bride of Michael Counter on June 22
Kathy and Mike Counter
Kathryn Anne Karsten, daughter of Randy and Marge Karsten, Platteville, and Michael Scott Counter, son of Scott and Helen Counter, Rhinelander, were married on June 22, 2019. Rev. Faustino Ruiz, SJP, officiated at the Nuptial Mass, held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Platteville at 1:30 p.m.
Amy Karsten, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Derek Piehl, cousin of the groom, was best man. Attendants were Valerie Fielhauer, friend of the bride, and Edgar Gomez, cousin-in-law of the groom.  
The goddaughter and godson of the groom, Adaline Barlowski and Carter Piehl, were flower girl and ring bearer. Ron Counter, the groom’s uncle, and Leah Karsten, the bride’s cousin, were ushers.
Kathryn wore a strapless white taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline adorned with lace and beaded appliques. Her veil was mid-length. She carried a bouquet of white lilies, blue roses and baby’s breath. Michael wore a black suit with a cobalt blue vest and tie and a yellow rose boutonniere. 
The bride and groom each were escorted to the altar by their parents as the musician, Holly Spiegelhoff, friend of the couple, played Canon in D, arranged by Tate. A dinner and dance at the Best Western Plus in Dubuque, followed the wedding.
Kathy earned a B.S.in music education from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. Michael received an A.S. in accounting and business management from Nicolet Technical College in Rhinelander. He completed additional college coursework in finance and financial management services.  

Kathy is an optician at ShopKo Optical. Michael works in the office at Severson Oil Co. The newlyweds reside in Winona, Minn.
