A new food option in Platteville offers home cooked meals made with the freshest and finest ingredients.

Grace Your Plate serves up food options to the Platteville area as well as delivering to places within 20 miles. The communities of Darlington, Belmont, Cuba City, Dickeyville, Potosi, and Lancaster also have the option of home cooked meals delivered right to their door.

Grace Your Plate, owned by Amber Quiej of Platteville, is making fresh and homemade food selections with lots of flavor, a dash of love, and a whole lot of soul. With pick-up orders available, as well as delivery options offered with an additional charge, the communities can order home cooked soul food goodness from Quiej’s kitchen, and have it brought right to their home.

“I cook all sorts of foods; from Southern Soul food to Mexican food, to Caribbean food, and Italian food,” said Quiej. “One of the most popular Italian food options is my homemade chicken cutlets. I really enjoy making them. First, I butterfly the chicken breasts, then dip them in an egg wash, and then into my special seasonings and bread crumb mixture, and then I pan-sear them until they’re crispy, juicy, and cooked to 165 degrees. Customers love them and I get a lot of compliments on them.”

Quiej offers fresh baked desserts, with options including layered coconut cream pudding cake, four-layered s’mores cake, a variety of cheesecakes, pineapple upside down cake, tiramisu, and the fan favorite Reese’s peanut butter cup fudge cake.

Her fresh baked options include garlic bread, which is best served alongside dishes such as Alfredo, spaghetti, penne pasta, Parmigiana, mac and cheese, and homemade soups.

As each food offered has a gluten-free option, the shared kitchen might allow cross-contamination to occur with items that contain gluten, therefore Grace Your Plate cannot guarantee items are 100 percent gluten-free. If you have a true gluten allergy, order with precaution and be sure to let her know when ordering.

The care and quality that go into each meal places the emphasis on flavor. It is said that the taste is second to none, as experience has been the best teacher for Quiej.

“I’ve been cooking for over 30 years for my family and friends, and it has always been my passion,” she said. “I love the way my food makes others happy and to hear how much they love my food and desserts is truly amazing and makes all of the hard work worth it every single day. Those who have worked in food service know how much hard work it is and how you get little to no rest.

“There are some days where I ask myself if I’m crazy and question my choices, but the moment people tell me how much they love my food, makes me know that I’m in the right business and made the right decision to leave my job as a Manager at my corporate job in 2025, to open my own ghost kitchen restaurant.”

Knowing that food service has intrigued Quiej the most, she has tried many options to serve the community, eventually finding the right opportunity to best serve the area.

“I worked at Little Caesars Pizza with my family in the 1990s, and I also ran Fiesta Cancun in Platteville for 11 years with my ex-husband,” she said. “I have worked as a waitress at several well-known restaurants, including Fried Green Tomatoes in Galena, and have always loved working in food service. I had been searching for a commercial kitchen to rent for many years, so when I finally found one for rent, I jumped on the opportunity and contacted the owners and began my ghost kitchen and what is now known as Grace Your Plate LLC.”

As she has always enjoyed cooking, her ‘soul food’ inspiration was never too far from home.

“My mom cooked a lot of wonderful homemade foods when I was younger and she grew a lot of her own food in her garden,” said Quiej. “My love for cooking definitely comes from my mother and her passion for cooking. In fact, my whole family shares a passion for food. Most people in Platteville knew my mom’s cooking and came to our house to eat in the 1980s, and now many people know me for my cooking.”

Quiej said she has been encouraged to further her passion for cooking as she is surrounded by the right kind of people who continue to motivate her.

“My five children and husband Jose all strengthen me and help keep me motivated to work hard and be successful,” she said. “I also have to mention my best friend of 36 years, Tiffiny, as one night she thought of the name Grace Your Plate, after we were brainstorming ideas and trying to come up with a name for my business. She came up with the name as my middle name is Grace and because I have a strong love and faith for God and his grace.”

As much as she enjoys her little “ghost kitchen,” as she calls it, her dream of owning her own sit-down restaurant is never far from her thoughts.

“My dream is to own my own sit-down restaurant someday and that has been my dream for as long as I can remember,” she said. “I can’t say that I see that happening due to the price of everything, however, where there is a will, there is a way, so if it’s meant to be, God will open those doors for me and prevail. In the meantime, I will continue serving as many people as I can out of my ghost kitchen.”

Grace Your Plate delivers home cooked meals and fresh baked desserts right to your door. Without a dine-in option, delivery and pickup orders are ready when ordered ahead of time. Grace Your Plate is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.

“We do delivery within 20 miles of Platteville, for a fraction of what people pay through DoorDash,” said Quiej. “We do curbside pickup, which saves the customers from having to get out of their vehicles. This allows them the comfort of staying comfy in their own vehicles, as we bring their meal right out to them. A lot of people appreciate that.”

As much as she enjoys serving the community, Quiej also continues to look for ways to further accommodate her patrons.

“I am currently revamping my menu and working on launching on Square, which means we will soon accept online orders and credit and debit cards,” she said. “Until that is all completed, orders are either texted or called in to 608-778-1716. Updates and items on the menu are pictured with prices on my Facebook page Grace Your Plate LLC.”

A variety of payment options are accepted, including Cash, Zelle, and Venmo.
