Foundry closure concerns raised

Concerns over the closure of the Richland Center Foundry led to Observer staff seeking answers. No one answered the telephone at the Foundry and a call was placed to Richland Center Mayor Paul Corcoran, who provided the following response.

“On Monday, December 7, I was informed that a service disconnect order was served to the Richland Center Foundry. The time and date for the disconnection order was 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8.  Contact has been made with the Foundry management team. The team has requested a reprieve for a few days in an attempt to resolve the issues facing the Foundry. I would like to commend the members of the Utility Commission for their willingness to help a business in our community. My office has contacted the office of Representative Ed Brooks, who has forwarded our request to both the Governor’s Office and Workforce Development for assistance.”
