The former Hillsboro Hardware and Rentals building has been purchased by Stan Gorius, owner of County Market in Hillsboro.

Gorius, who is also part owner of the Hartje grocery, hardware, and convenience store in La Valle, needed storage space for that business, as well as for County Market.

“The Hillsboro Hardware store was the right price for the amount of storage I needed,” Gorius told the Sentry Enterprise. “If it hadn’t been available, I was going to build something.”

In addition to the aforementioned businesses, the new site will warehouse supplies for American Solutions For Business and for Gorius’ son Geoff, who operates an Internet watersports business. A display of his merchandise is located at Hartje’s.

American Solutions For Business is owned by Mark, Mike, and Charlie Jirschele of Hillsboro, who sell printing and promotional supplies.

Gorius purchased County Market from the Weiland family in June 2013, and manages the store with his sons Geoffrey and Andrew. Prior to that, he owned a beer distribution business in southeastern Wisconsin.

“We started out delivering Old Style products in two counties,” Gorius said. “When I sold out in 2013, we distributed almost everything but Budweiser products for 27 counties. We offered a vast majority of micro-brews and imports.”

After the deaths of Al and Kay Stockwell, Gorius agreed to continue offering the U-Haul rental service previously provided by the Hillsboro couple.
