New executive director at Golden Living
New executive director

Cory Nugent, a native of the Ithaca area, began his duties at Golden LivingCenter – Riverdale April 11, serving as executive director.

He has a varied background, growing up on a small Richland County farm with Bob and the late Jean Nugent, his parents, both retired teachers, Bob from Richland Center and Jean from Ithaca. Cory is the youngest of four children.

It was while studying Business Management at UW-Eau Claire when he became interested in Healthcare Administration and was graduated with a double major. He said he found the healthcare administration field appealing because of the opportunity to directly serve people. He holds a Nursing Home Administrator License.

Prior to attending UW-Eau Claire Cory served four years as an active U.S. Marine and then four more years on inactive duty with the Corps. He is a lifetime member of the American Legion and currently is an Ithaca Lion. He has also expressed an interest in being part of the Muscoda Chamber of Commerce.

Among Cory’s experiences was working as an electrician apprentice for four years. He was also employed at the Richland Hospital in the financial area and for five years at the drug and alcohol treatment center of  St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.

His current position at Golden LivingCenter is his first experience as a nursing home executive director. He said he is finding the position interesting and he will be happy to talk to anyone and take them on a tour of that facility to show what is available at the Muscoda home.

He currently lives on the Ithaca area family farm, an 80-acre beef operation, which he notes with a smile, still uses a 2-row corn planter.
