Daugherty
MARY DAUGHERTY, President of Sustain Rural Wisconsin, will speak at a Discussion of Values and Goals event in Viroqua on Wednesday, April 4. Daugherty is shown here speaking at an Industrial Ag in the Driftless event that took place in Boscobel in January.

VIROQUA - A ‘Connect + Protect, Farms + Citizens’ event will take place on Wednesday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m., at the American Legion Taphouse #138, 120 N. Rusk Street, Viroqua.

The event will be led by Mary Dougherty, President of Sustain Rural Wisconsin. Dougherty will facilitate a discussion designed to allow concerned citizens to begin to come together to answer the questions ‘Who are we?,’ What do we care about and value?,’ and ‘How do we protect what we care about and value?”

Dougherty will share a story about a group of citizens and farmers, who worked with county officials in Bayfield County to set some ground rules for industrial agriculture in their communities with operations ordinances,

This meeting is intended as a kickoff to conducting a similar process in the Driftless Region, and finding ways to come together and protect what the region values.
