Bellis pleads not guilty by reason of mental defect

The 31-year-old Boscobel woman charged with first degree reckless homicide in the July death of her infant daughter plead not guilty by reason of mental defect on Nov. 28 in Grant County Circuit Court.

Renae L. Bellis will have her next court appearance on Jan. 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. for a motion hearing and status conference.

During the morning of July 9, at approximately 8:19, the Boscobel Police Department began to investigate the suspicious death of a three and a half-month old infant female at the home of Bellis, located at 210 W. North St. in northwest Boscobel.
