A 48-year-old Hampton, Georgia man has been arrested and charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of a Bridgeport woman early in the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Jimmy D. McDaniel was formally charged Monday afternoon in Crawford County Circuit Court in the death of 53-year-old Linda L. Kline. He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

On October 5 at 12:20 a.m. the Crawford County Sheriff’s department dispatch received a 911 call from a residence on Velvet Lane in Bridgeport Township saying that a woman had hanged herself.  Officers responded and found Linda L. Kline, 53, of Velvet lane, deceased lying on the ground outside the residence.   Linda’s sister, Michelle Little, 55, and Linda’s boyfriend, Jimmy D. McDaniel, 48, were also at the residence.

Kline’s body was taken to UW Madison Hospital, where an autopsy was performed.  During the autopsy, Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Steier, ruled the death as a homicide.

On October 6, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the Prairie du Chien Police Department to arrest McDaniel while he was in the lobby of the AmericInn Hotel in Prairie du Chien.  McDaniel was waiting for a ride to the La Crosse Airport to fly back to Georgia.

According to the criminal complaint, Prairie du Chien police officer Tony Berg was the first to arrive on the scene, where he discovered Kline lying on the ground with McDaniel kneeling near her head. When Berg approached, McDaniel began what appeared to be CPR compressions on Kline. Officer Berg told him that he had called emergency medical personnel and to go back in the house. EMTs arrived and confirmed that Kline was dead.
