UW–Platteville held an Interactive Opera and Opera Workshop in December featuring UWP and area high school students, including (front, from left) Morgan Reese, Maggie Schmidt and Lily Martin from Lancaster and Arianna Day from Platteville. They performed with UWP students (back, from left) Danna Miller, Emily Stanek, Emma Bernhagen, Stephanie Orgas, Sara Mueller, Amanda Zasada, Emily Hackl, Colin Pustaver-Olson, (not pictured) Madison Anderson, Michael Ababio, Lucas Ensign and Zach Masa-Myer. The performers explored “The Many Faces of Women in Opera,” from the strong-willed to the naïve, through scenes from “Carmen,” “L’Elisir d’Amore,” “Giulio Cesare,” “Lakme,” “The Goose Girl” and “Die Fledermaus.” Dr. Susan Savage Day, UW–Platteville assistant professor of music and vocal area coordinator, directed the event, Pianist Jill Hasker of Platteville provided the accompaniment.
