Interpretations of "Night"
night2

English 9 students at Platteville High School recently read Elie Wiesel’s Holocaust memoir Night, a description of the living conditions within Nazi German’s concentration camps. Instead of taking a test at the end of this unit, students were asked to demonstrate what they learned by completing a project of their choice. These choices included constructing a Holocaust memoir, creating a soundtrack for the film adaptation of Night, creating a movie poster for the film adaptation, filming a movie trailer, creating a Holocaust-themed board game, or completing a creative writing assignment (journals, newspaper articles, poetry, etc.).  Students completed a variety of project options that allowed them to express their knowledge and explore textual elements. Everything from epic poems to a Holocaust memorial made entirely of cake were submitted.
