The Southwest Conference Honor Band Festival was held at Richland Center High School Jan. 10.
This all-day festival included select music students from Dodgeville, Lancaster, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, and River Valley. Their conductor/clinician for the day was Matthew Gregg from the Performing and Visual Arts Department at UW–Platteville.
“This is not only about the concert at the end of the day, but creating music ambassadors for your home school,” said Gregg.
The Honor Festival is held every other year with the band students coming together in odd-numbered years and the choir students on even-numbered years. Students receive their music ahead of time to work with their own directors, then come together for one day culminating in a concert performance at the end of the day.
