City of Platteville residents will have an opportunity to meet Common Council and school board candidates at the same event.

Wisconsin Education Association Council Region 6 will host a candidate forum for the two candidates for the Common Council at-large seat held by retiring Ald. Dick Bonin, as well as the six School Board candidates, in the Wisconsin Bank & Trust Community Room, 10 Keystone Parkway, Tuesday, March 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The format will be similar to the format WEAC hosted before the School Board primary Feb. 17.

Tom Nall and Angie Donovan are running for Bonin’s at-large seat. Incumbents Steve Obershaw and Eric Fatzinger are opposed by challengers Colleen McCabe, Matt Zielinski, Curt Timlin and Jamie Brogley for three three-year seats.

Meanwhile, five information sessions have been scheduled for the Platteville Public Schools $15 million referendum, the vote that will be held April 7 with School Board, Common Council and other races.

Information sessions have been scheduled for Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center March 24 at 6 p.m., Platteville High School March 26 at 7 p.m., Westview Elementary School March 30 at 6 p.m., and Platteville Middle School March 31 at 6 p.m.

The school referendum also will be the subject of the Platteville Regional Chamber’s Good Morning Platteville at Take 2 Restaurant Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 a.m.

The school district also has a website, sites.google.com/a/Platteville.k12.wi.us/Platteville-school-district-referendum/, with information on each facet of the $16.6 million project, including entrance work at all four schools, maintenance priorities, moving first and fourth grades to Westview, science labs at PMS and PHS, the project’s tax impact, and a Frequently Asked Questions page.

The school district also has a Facebook page, Platteville School District Referendum.
