Starting about half an hour late from closed session, the Boscobel School Board met for a special board meeting on Monday.
The big news of the meeting was the hiring of Wally Byrne as the new high school principal at a pro-rated salary of $85,000 for the year. Byrne was formerly a special education teacher for grades 7-12.
The Special Education Director position saw a slight shift with the changing of the title to Pupil Services. The new title includes the additional responsibilities of being the district’s homeless liaison, English language coordinator, non-violent crisis intervention trainer, 504 coordinator, and trainer for co-teaching, along with the previous special education duties. Laurie Genz Prien will retain that position at a salary of $83,795 for the year, which will be retroactive to July 1.
