field0025

Area beekeepers will gather Sunday, June 1, for a field day to focus on two key topics related to keeping healthy bees, identifying the best nectar-producing flowers for bee nutrition and conducting hive inspections to monitor development of their colonies. The event is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. and will include a potluck lunch.

The field day at Star Valley Flowers in rural Soldiers Grove will feature a presentation by farm owner, John Zehrer, and on-site hive inspections conducted by veteran members of the Ridge & Valley Beekeepers club, according to club president Sue Sharp. Those attending are ask to bring a dish to pass and chairs for their comfort. Both members and newcomers are invited.

Club members who purchased new bee packages this spring will be able to redeem the package cages for return of their deposits.

Anyone wishing to attend is requested to RSVP to Sue Sharp at 608-604-9005.
