Darlington gears up for Canoe Fest

From backfreshman Emma Crist, sophomore Hannah Kelly, junior Meagan Jacobson and senior Savannah Bergeson, this years Canoe Fest princess candidates, recently took to the water to get some practice in before the big Canoe Fest weekend.

Darlington is gearing up for the 49th annual Darlington Canoe Festival to be held June 11-14, including this year’s Canoe Festival princess candidates: freshman, Emma Crist; sophomore Hannah Kelly; junior Meagan Jacobson and senior Savannah Bergeson.

The winner of the crown will be announced on Friday, June 12 at 6 p.m. at the Darlington Festival Grounds and the princess pageant will take place later that night at 8:30 p.m.

The weekend will officially kick off on Thursday evening, June 11 at 6 p.m. with the Sieg Memorial Youth Baseball Tournament, and the festival’s events will just keep coming after that.

The Darlington Canoe Festival offers a variety of activities for everyone of all ages.
