Gilligan’s Island opens this weekend
‘Just sit back and you’ll hear a tale’
Skipper and Gilligan

The glory days of 1960’s TV return with this week’s opening of Gilligan’s Island the Musical!  All of the Castaways will get stranded on the island again just so “you’ll be sure to get a smile!”  Millions have watched the antics of Gilligan, the Skipper, the Professor, Mr. and Mrs. Howell, Ginger and Mary Ann while stranded on that desert isle.  Week after week, Gilligan’s goofiness would ruin their chance to be rescued.

The same thing happens in our musical, but they sing about it, too!  Everyone will recognize the show’s opening song, “The Ballad of Gilligan’s Island.”  There are more than a dozen other songs, including “Lucky Guy,” “Together,” and “The Professor’s Lament.”  A live orchestra led by Chris Simonson will provide the music for the Castaways.

And if singing weren’t enough, the Castaways will dance!  The choreography was created and taught by Lillie Kuss, who has a background in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, and high kick.  Even the Skipper dances?  You bet, and Cameron Cormican, who plays the Skipper, can’t wait for you to see his fancy footwork.

Ever wonder who was the radio announcer they listened to each week?  It’s no mystery in our show, as everyone will recognize the voice of Ron Fruit of WRCO radio!  Ron was kind enough to lend us his voice for that role.

So come to the air-conditioned Richland Center High School Auditorium and relax!  Take the time to laugh a little!  Director Amy Rohn, the cast and crew have worked hard to provide an evening of nostalgic entertainment.

There will be two shows on Saturday, July 30 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.  Additional shows will be on Sunday July 31 at 2:00 p.m., Friday August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets to all shows are just $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

So join us there each week, my friend!  For more information, visit the Community Players of Southwest Wisconsin on Facebook or email Amy Rohn at amytx2@gmail.com
