McCoy Public Library
SHULLSBURG - Families with children 5th grade and under are invited to McCoy Public Library on April 12 from 6-7 p.m. to make sock puppets and learn ventriloquism from local author and artist Nikki Cooper. Fun with Mo Willems Story Hour for children 3-years to 5K is from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.  Have your child join us for this interactive learning program. Puppet Party!
Alt for Norge
MONROE – Jamie Larson was selected as a contestant on the Norwegian reality show, “Alt for Norge.” How did he qualify? What did he do on the show? What did he see in Norway? The public is invited to hear Larson at 6:30 p.m. on April 12 at the United Presbyterian Church, 2707 5th Street in Monroe. For more info call 608-325-2439.
 IUCC Women’s Guild
DARLINGTON – The Women’s Guild of Immanuel UCC Church will be meeting on Thursday, April 12 at noon. The program will be the forensics students from Darlington High School. The committee for the day will be June Hancock, chair; Virginia Douglas, co-chair; LeeAnn Ruef, Deana Soper, Marjean Sutherland, Nathalie Ruf, Janette Steger and Peggy Lancaster. Everyone is always welcome to come and meet with us.
Community Blood Drives
LAFAYETTE COUNTY – The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. The MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

Gratiot Annex Library
GRATIOT - Spring Nature Family Fun Day at Gratiot Annex Library is April 14 from 10-11 a.m.  Families with children 5th grade and under can paint rocks, make bird watching binoculars and their own terrarium! Gratiot Annex Library will have homework help from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.
Bluebird Society Spring Meeting
DARLINGTON – The Spring Meeting of the Lafayette County Bluebird Society, Inc. will be held on April 14 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Town Bank Community Room in Darlington.  Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center from Durand, Ill., will have live birds including a Great Horned Owl and Turkey Vulture.  A silent auction with items from businesses in Darlington, Wiota and Argyle and from LCBS members includes a blanket autographed by Alex Erickson.  There will be door prizes and refreshments.  Hoo Haven is sponsored by First National Bank at Darlington, Woodford State Bank, Benton State Bank, and First National Bank and Trust at Argyle.  For more information email at bluebirdhouse.org@gmail.com or call 608-922-2473.
Genealogy Society Open House
DARLINGTON – The Grand Opening of the Lafayette County Genealogy Society Research Center will be Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be available along with publications for sale, freebies and door prizes given away. Bring the family. You never know what you might learn about your family and where they lived.
Argyle Public Library
ARGYLE – On Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m., local author, Bonnie Nadzam, of acclaimed novel “Lamb” will read from her book and compare scenes from the major motion picture adaptation. Also in conjunction with Money Smart Month, the Argyle Public Library will host Ruth Schriefer of UW Extension, speaking on “Personal Money Habitudes” Tuesday, April 24, at 2 p.m.
Superhero Dance
BELMONT – The Pleasant View 4-H Club is sponsoring a Superhero Dance on Friday, April 20 from 6-8 p.m. Bring dad, mom & the kids and dress up as your favorite superhero (recommended for PreK-8th grade. Free admission. A guardian is required. Enjoy a fun night of music, dancing & games at the Belmont Elementary Gym. Door prizes, snacks and beverages will be provided.
Shullsburg Family Dance
SHULLSBURG - Shullsburg PTA will be hosting a Family Dance Sunday, April 22 from 1-3 p.m. at Shullsburg Schools in the old gym (Pit).   It is $5 per family.  Drinks and refreshments will be served.
Bluebird Nest Nature Center
DARLINGTON – Have you travelled in Africa? On Thursday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bluebird Nest Nature Center in Darlington,  Steve Weeber is coming from Iowa City to share his photos of his adventures in Africa. You will be thrilled at his amazing photography. Come along on this great adventure!
