Garden Club Meeting
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Garden Club will meet on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Room of Town Bank in Darlington. Mary Lindell is the hostess and Sara Aide will present a program titled “Garden Planning and Canning”. Any interested community members are invited to attend.
Baby Quilt Workshop
BELMONT – The Pleasant View Methodist Church, 12987 Pleasant View Rd., Belmont will host a baby quilt mission project workshop on May 19 from 9 a.m-3 p.m. Potluck lunch. Sewers and non-sewers alike are needed to assist with creating baby quilts for Bringing Hope 2 Others, a mission serving a birthing center in Northern Tanzania. Belmont FFA Plant Sale
BELMONT – The Belmont FFA Plant Sale will be held every Saturday in May (19, 26) from 8 a.m. to noon at the FFA Greenhouse behind the school next to the football/baseball fields. Stop into the High School Office to notify the FFA teacher/members. There will be geraniums, calibrachoa ‘million bells’, impatiens, vergena, petunias ‘wave’, zinnias, begonias, marigolds & pansies. All proceeds go to the Belmont FFA.
Historic Argyle presentation
ARGYLE – On Saturday, May 19, Historic Argyle is sponsoring former Argyle resident, Doug Watson, who will present a PowerPoint program on the history of the railroad that ran from Freeport, through Argyle and continued on to its terminus at Dodgeville. He’ll take you on a journey from the line’s conception in 1884, when local businesses and village officials wanted to expand the limited commercial area of their respective communities. The program consists of nearly 60 slides, including images of every depot that existed during that line’s existence (1887-1942). The program will be held at the Argyle EMS Building, 104 N. Broad Street, and is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
Belmont EMS Pancake Breakfast
BELMONT – The Belmont EMS Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, May 20 serving from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Belmont Fire/EMS Building. It is a free will donation. All proceeds go towards the purchase of updated equipment and education for our EMT’s.
Meet & Greet Denise Rohan
DARLINGTON – Come out to the Meet and Greet with American Legion National Commander Denise Rohan on Monday, May 21 from 3-8 p.m. at the American Legion Post #214 at 1400 Keep Street in Darlington. There will be a free supper at 6 p.m. with a program to follow.
Community Blood Drive
LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Sixteen year olds are accepted with parental consent. New donors must bring a photo ID and another form of ID.
