Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for November are: Nov. 17-Story Hour @ 10 a.m./ Pages & Popcorn Book Club @ 1:45 p.m.; Nov. 20-Wii after school for all ages; Nov. 21-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour @ 10 a.m.; Nov. 23-Closed for Thanksgiving; Nov. 24-Closed for Thanksgiving; Nov. 27-Movie Monday @ 3:45 p.m.; Nov. 28-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour @ 10 a.m.; Nov. 29-Kalee Crist reads Spanish/English Christmas stories with a craft @ 3:45 p.m.; Nov. 30-Lego Club @ 3:45 p.m. for ages 7-11.
McCoy Public Library
SHULLSBURG –Families can come to McCoy Public Library on Nov. 16 from 6-7 p.m. to make puppets! On Nov. 22 there will be an early release movie at 1:15 p.m.
Argyle Public Library
ARGYLE – Check out this event at the Argyle Public Library on Nov. 16 starting at 7 p.m. on Julebukking, presented by Jim Leary, retired professor of folklore and Scandinavian studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His books include So Ole Says to Lena: Folk Humor of the Upper Midwest. Julebukking or “Christmas fooling” is an old Norwegian custom widely practiced and still remembered in the Argyle area and beyond. A rowdier grown-up version of Halloween, it involved disguises, winter house visits, and more.

Free Community Thanksgiving Meal
    DARLINGTON - You are invited to a Free Community Thanksgiving Meal on Thursday, Nov. 23rd at 11 a.m., hosted by Grace Lutheran Church, 1302 Clay Street, Darlington. Everybody is welcome! Traditional menu will include turkey, ham, potatoes, dressing, corn, salads, rolls, homemade desserts and milk. Reservations are appreciated, but not required. Call the church office at 608-776-4462 and leave a message with number of kids and adults eating. Deliveries available.
A Bit of Yesteryear
SHULLSBURG – Join us for an old fashion holiday tradition in our picturesque town on Saturday, Nov. 25. Check out the Gingerbread Vendor Craft show at St. Mathews gym at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tour of Homes around Shullsburg from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. A Charles Dickens themed Christmas Carolers will be around town. Kids activities from 2-4 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer will make an appearance at Kingsley Crossing from 4:00-6:30 p.m. The big event with the Evening Christmas Parade on downtown Water Street will be at 6 p.m. The Christmas Tree Lighting will follow the parade.
Bluebird Nest Nature Center
DARLINGTON – On Nov. 25, The Bluebird Nest Nature Center will be open from 1-4 p.m. for Small Business Saturday/Open House. Pat Discher will be painting animals on ornaments. Pat is a wonderful pet painter and will paint any animal. Stop in and watch her work, bring a photo of your pet or bring your pet. Have some hot chocolate while you are there.
Annual Tree Lighting
BELMONT – The annual tree lighting at Leahy Memorial Park in Belmont will be Sunday, Nov. 26 beginning at 5 p.m. Join us for Christmas carols and community fellowship. The Pleasant View 4-H Club will serve refreshments. If weather is too cold, it will be moved to the Community Building after the tree lighting.
