The Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County (MHLC) Auxiliary will be hosting the 15th annual golf classic on Friday, July 10 starting at11 a.m.  This year part of the proceeds from the event will go towards landscaping to complete the ER lighting project at MHLC.
This year is bringing a new fundraiser to the annual event held in July at the Darlington Country Club, which is a Helicopter Golf Ball Drop at 4:30 p.m.  Only 200 tickets have been printed and are for sale for $20 each. A total of 200 golf balls have been numbered.
A helicopter will drop the balls over the target and whoever’s ball is the closest will receive half of the proceeds, which if all the tickets are sold would be $2000.  The Helicopter Golf Ball Drop is sponsored by WS Ag and the Auxiliary is very excited for this event.
From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. will be the golf time for two-person best ball. There is a $10 donation per person, plus green and cart fees for those who are not members at the Darlington Country Club.
“Earlier tee times are available by calling the club, to make it more convenient for people and to allow people who may be have plans for the weekend to golf a little earlier in the day,” said Sue Paquette, hospital auxiliary member.
Anyone who hasn’t scheduled their tee time yet, can do so by calling the Darlington Country Club at 608-776-3377.
The theme for this year’s golf classic will be: Building a Healthier Community. This year’s theme is meant to recognize and highlight the partnership between the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and the construction industry throughout the area.
A lunch will be available to purchase from the Darlington Country Club from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.   In the evening a steak feed put on by the hospital auxiliary will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tickets cost $13 and will be available at the event.
But the event will not only be for those who golf, there is something for everyone at this event, including a silent auction that will run until 7:00 p.m.   Meat paddles will be available throughout the afternoon. At 7:30 p.m. a live auction will begin with Dick White as auctioneer.
