Platteville 4th of July Celebration Saturday
World War II, Korea vets to be honored in City Park in a.m.

Platteville will hold its annual Independence Day celebration Saturday.

The annual 5K Run/Walk will be held starting from and ending at the Rollo Jamison Museum, with registration at 7:30 a.m., the youth walk/run at 8 a.m., and the adult run afterward. Registration is online at www.platteville.org/recreation.

The museum will hold its annual Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Wundo Band will play from noon to 4 p.m. Other events include hit-and-miss engines and antique tractors, other demonstrations, historic games, art in the Rountree Gallery, and a Southwest Wisconsin Auto Club car display. Admission will be reduced for the Bevans Lead Mine and the train ride.

The annual City Park program will be held at 10 a.m. Veterans of World War II and the Korean War will be honored.

Events at Legion Field begin at 4 p.m., with a bean bag tournament (with registration at 3:30 p.m.) and kids’ inflatables. Fireworks will be launched at dusk. The rain date is Sunday, July 5.
