St. Mary Catholic Church in Platteville will be the site of the ordination of three Roman Catholic priests Monday night.

The three deacons are members of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest, whose priests serve at St. Mary’s and at St. Augustine University Parish in Platteville.

The deacons to be ordained are Jerry Onofre Zhanay, 25, of New York; Vicente Oswaldo Salas, 29, of Guayaquil, Ecuador; and Felipe Andres Alvial, 26, of Santiago, Chile. The three are graduates of the University of Murcia in Spain, where they will return for their final year of theological studies.

Bishop Robert Morlino of the Catholic Diocese of Madison will preside at the ordination, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Morlino ordained the three as deacons in August, before they went to Spain for further studies in theology.

The three have been in Platteville this week in retreat under the direction of Rev. Faustino Ruiz, St. Mary’s pastor.
