State Rep. Ed Brooks (R-Reedsburg) is the new Wisconsin Assembly representative to the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission (MIPRC).

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Burlington) appointed Brooks late last month, remarking that he was sure Brooks would be a great addition to the Commission.

“I’m excited to be joining Senators Mark Miller (D-Monona) and Fred Risser (D-Madison), as well as Transportation Secretary (Mark) Gottlieb, in representing Wisconsin on this Commission,” said Brooks, whose district includes Greenwood township. “Rail was critical to Wisconsin’s past, and I look forward to studying how rail can continue to be a part of our regional transportation infrastructure for years to come.”

The MIPRC is made up of representative from nine Midwestern states whose mission is to promote improvements in passenger rail service.
