City approved plat changes, alley paving

SHULLSBURG — At the Shullsburg City Council meeting Wednesday, March 1, 2017, Mayor Gloria Swenson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
    Delta 3 updated the plat map for the proposed McCoy residential development. The changes include adding three lots to the acre and the road will connect to County Hwy. O. Alder Emmett Rielly asked if the council was going to vote on this tonight. He was told yes. A motion was made and seconded and passed 3-1.
    The Veterans Memorial will be getting new concrete or pavers. Wayne Gerht asked the council if the city could remove the current concrete and they would do the rest. Approved.
    2017 street and sidewalk projects. No action on the sidewalk replacement was taken. A motion was made for crack filling, various locations - $5,000; Street paving, alley #19 and alley #20 - $25,000.
    Pam Paquette, representing the Promotional Committee of Advance Shullsburg, asked the council if the group could close off Water Street Saturday, June 3 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The group is holding a Car Cruise. The city approved the request.
    Clerks Report – Marsha Einswieler reported that there is water coming into the Museum Building; Board of Review is Wednesday, May 24 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Open Book will be Thursday, May 11 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
    Comments – Walkway in Badger Park is breaking apart; What will McCoy development be zoned? –Answer we don’t know.
    Committee reports: - Historic Preservation – Alder Cory Ritterbusch reported they had a meeting with the Montezuma House representatives and approved repainting of the building with the provision everything will stay as is. Also meeting with three property owners on Water Street who are interested in upgrading. Police – Looking to add a part-time officer.
    In other business:
    •Tabled preliminary certified survey map.
    •Approved an ordinance change to section 13.46 (1) of the Shullsburg Municipal code. This will allow contractors to use plastic instead of copper.
    •Approved a contract with Energenecs, Inc. for SCADA software update for $2,825.
    •Approved a proclamation for Fair Housing Act.
    •Approved bills in the amount of $148,822.
