The City of Platteville and the Platteville School District both voted on administrators’ contracts and pay last week.

The School Board July 8 unanimously approved raises of up to 4 percent for the school district’s administrators — superintendent Connie Valenza, high school principal Jeff Jacobson, sixth- through eighth-grade principal Lisa Finnegan, second- through fifth-grade principal Don Shaw, and Neal Wilkins principal ReNah Reuter.

Reuter’s contract also was extended by 10 days for additional duties as the school district’s K–5 curriculum coordinator.
Valenza’s contract’s retirement provisions were also changed to comply with requirements under the federal Affordable Care Act.

Then, on July 9, the Platteville Common Council approved a new contract for City Manager Larry Bierke on a 6–1 vote, with at-large Ald. Mike Denn opposed.

Bierke is making $98,980 this year. The new contract adds five vacation days.

Bierke has been the city manager since November 2010.
