A Fennimore man was found guilty of four charges stemming from separate incidents this past August.
Derrick P. Hansen 31, Fennimore, was found guilty on charges of disorderly conduct — domestic abuse, three years on probation and pay $543; criminal damage to property — domestic abuse, 3 years on probation and pay $343; criminal damage to property — domestic abuse, 3 years on probation; 2 counts of disorderly conduct — domestic abuse, 3 years on probation each during a court hearing on Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Grant County Courthouse.
A charge of false imprisonment — domestic abuse was dismissed.
Hansen’s spouse, Cassandra Hall-Hansen, 30, Fennimore, was also facing charges from the incidents. Hall-Hansen pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct - county/municipality charge, and was ordered to pay a fine of $50 back in October.
According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 17, when on her way home Cassandra received a text message from Derrick stating that he had backed into the camper with his truck, and when she arrived at their residence, she saw the camper was more than smashed.
Derrick allegedly had taken a skid steer to it, and slit the tires.
She then walked into the house, and Derrick asked her where her phone was and she told him she gave it to a friend, although she admitted she purposely left it in her vehicle.
Derrick then became angry about that and proceeded to break their 40-50 gallon fish tank.
Cassandra then claimed Derrick proceeded to yell at her, while punching walls.
He then preceded to shatter a dining room chair over a table, and then picked up a piece of the chair and threw it at her.
She went to walk out the door and he prevented her from going out the door, punching the door a couple of times and kept slamming it shut.
Cassandra was able to get out the door and walk towards her vehicle, but Derrick pulled her back and took the keys out of her hand, saying “she was not leaving and they were going to continue to have this fight.”
She then informed told him he can continue to yell at her but he was going to clean up.
He then proceeded to use the broom to smash the broom through the clean dishes on the counter and onto the floor, and then broke the broom in three pieces and proceeded to bat other things including the walls.
At that point Cassandra stated she sat in the chair, and Derrick “finished yelling at her.” He then Derrick “calmed down” and they then cleaned everything up.
Then, on Friday, Aug. 18, Fennimore Police Officer Nathan Farrey spoke with Derrick Hansen regarding another domestic incident that allegedly happened on Aug. 15.
Derrick stated said he was lying in bed when Cassandra came home from Lancaster, and Cassandra kicked in the door and caused damage to it and started yelling at him.
Derrick then said he wanted to look at her phone, but he could not get the password to work on the phone.
He got upset when he could not unlock it, so he slammed the phone on a counter.
Cassandra then hit him in the stomach and with a closed fist on the left side of the face near his left eye three to four times.
While stating her version of events, Cassandra claimed while she was working, Derrick came into the bar asking people if they knew who the guy was that Cassandra was talking to.
Cassandra went home at 12:30 a.m., and was locked out of the house, but she was able to push the door open, and she did not damage the door.
While in the shower, Derrick came into the bathroom and pulled Cassandra’s head out of the shower to try and get the face ID to work.
Cassandra said Derrick could not get into the phone and slammed the phone onto the counter.
She then stated that Derrick woke the kids up asking them if they knew the password to the phone.
She told Officer Farrey that she tried to grab the phone from Derrick but he rolled and pulled Cassandra down onto the bed over top of him, called her derogatory names.
