Two people suffered unspecified minor injuries March 19 in a head-on crash on Hwy. 14/61 in the town of Coon.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, Karisa Timmerman, 23, La Crosse, was driving eastbound on Hwys. 14/61 near Vang Road when she lost control of her vehicle on snow and slush. Timmerman’s vehicle crossed the center of the highway and struck a westbound pickup truck driven by Randall  Brueggeman, 48, rural Cashton.

Timmerman’s vehicle spun, came to rest in the eastbound lane and caught fire, but the blaze was extinguished quickly.

Brueggeman’s vehicle traveled off the road and came to rest in a snowbank.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Both Timmerman and Brueggeman were wearing seat belts, and the air bags in both vehicles deployed.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Brueggeman and Timmerman may seek medical treatment on their own.

Assisting at the scene were the Coon Valley Fire Department and the Westby Police Department.
