Members of Cesky Den made plans for the 2016 edition of Hillsboro’s annual Czech heritage festival Oct. 17 during the group’s annual meeting.

Snapper Verbsky was re-elected president, along with three officers.  Roger Haugh was chosen as director for a three year term ending in 2018.  Traci Shaker and Jeanne Hora will continue as directors untilo 2016 and 2017, respectively.

The St. Patrick’s Day Dance will be March 13 at the Firemen’s Community Center on Mill St. with music by Gary and the Ridgeland Dutchmen.

Cesky Den 2016 will be June 11 and will again be a one-day celebration downtown.  Some new events are planned, including a “Czech Trek” race organized by Julie Fronk.  Many suggestions were made for other plans to improve the annual ethnic heritage festival.

Money from the Memorial Fund was donated to the Czech National and Mount Vernon cemeteries in memory of past members to help improve both cemeteries.

Cesky Den’s next meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at Barbie’s Kitchen on Water Ave. to continue preparations for the 2016 event.
