The Moving Platteville Outdoors Rountree Trail Project is $119,750 away from the $1.676 million needed for the Rountree Branch trail project.

Rule Construction of Dodgeville announced one week ago that it will start tree-trimming the week of Aug. 17, followed by grading. Fundraising needs to be finished by Aug. 15 to have the fully finished trail as planned.

“With an estimated 1,500 people involved in 28 fundraising projects over the last 19 months and another 550 making direct contributions, we need to fully fund and complete this trail out of respect for this collaborated community effort,” said MPO Rountree steering committee chair Gene Weber. “The leadership groups — Platteville Community Fund, Building Platteville, City of Platteville and the Platteville Community Arboretum — need your help right now to bring this trail to full life.”

To donate, mail checks with “MPO” in the memo line to Platteville Community Arboretum, P.O. Box 302, Platteville, WI 53818.
