Charges filed after incident

A 28-year-old Platteville man faces a felony charge after an incident Aug. 8.

Charges of strangulation and suffocation and disorderly conduct were filed against Ahmed L. Perkins in Grant County Circuit Court.

Perkins is free on a $1,000 signature bond after his initial appearance Aug. 11. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29 at 11 a.m.

Perkins faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

Police received a cellular 911 call Aug. 8 around 9:25 p.m. in which a man could be heard yelling at another person.

After police responded, officers arrested Perkins. Another person at the scene was taken to Southwest Health by Platteville EMS.
