TOWN OF WATERLOO — An SUV belonging to a Dodgeville man who has been missing since June 26 was found in an old quarry on Grant County N Saturday.

The black 2000 Chevrolet Suburban is owned by Michael R. Upman, 41, who has not contacted his children or any family or friends since June 26.

A search of the area was conducted Saturday night, and again Sunday afternoon with Potosi, Lancaster, Cassville and Bloomington firefighters and Grant County Sheriff’s Department employees. A Wisconsin State Patrol airplane with thermal imaging flew over the area Sunday. Neither the plane nor the volunteers were able to find anything, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department is planning additional search efforts this week at the property.

“At this time, it is unknown whether Michael Upman is still in the area where his vehicle was located, but all efforts are being put forth to try and locate him by both agencies,” said a release from Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman and Dodgeville Police Chief Dave Kiefer.

Upman is white, 6 feet tall and 165 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Upman does not have a cellphone that can be traced.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dodgeville police, (608) 935-3228, or the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, (608) 935-3314.
